She holds the distinction of being the inaugural Latina to join the sports team in the history of First Coast News. Hailing from the deep South Texas region known as the Rio Grande Valley, Gonzalez is an alumna of Texas A&M University — Kingsville, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Speech Communications and completed a minor in Journalism.
Before making her mark at First Coast News, she dedicated four years of her career to KIII-TV, a TEGNA affiliate located in Corpus Christi, Texas, where she held the position of Sports Anchor. Notably, she achieved the distinction of becoming the first female Sports Anchor in the station’s history during her time at KIII-TV. Gonzalez’s journey in the field of broadcasting began in 2019 during her senior year in college when she started as a part-time Weekend Morning Editor and Photographer. Four months after graduating, she received a well-deserved promotion to Multi-Skilled Journalist. Two years later, she advanced to the role of Sports Anchor.
From a young age, Gonzalez got a deep passion for sports, and her commitment to integrating sports into her daily life was evident. She remembers her childhood days in Weslaco, Texas, where she engaged in various sports activities with the neighborhood kids, particularly football. When Gonzalez isn’t covering the game of the week, you can often find her outdoors, exploring new dog parks with her canine companion, Stella.
