During her tenure in Charlotte, she anchored and covered many breaking news events including winter storms, devastating hurricanes, and major news events that made national headlines like the Charleston church shooting, the funeral of Reverend Billy Graham, and the city’s sendoff when the Carolina Panthers went to Super Bowl 50.
She was privileged to interview former First Lady Laura Bush, President Donald Trump, and then-Senator Barack Obama during his first presidential campaign. Being rooted in the community she lives in is also important. In addition, she led the station’s campaign for seven years raising millions of dollars for children fighting pediatric cancer at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital while in Charlotte.
Previously, Sperow was an anchor/reporter at KLTV in Texas and WABG in Mississippi before joining WBTV. She is an active member of the National Association of Black Journalists and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
