Sandlin worked as co-anchor of the morning newscast at WTOC-TV in Savannah, Georgia before coming to WISN 12. She also co-hosted the station’s lifestyle show, “Morning Break.” During her time in Georgia, she was nominated for an Emmy for “Best Morning Newscast” in the Southeast and won the “Best Newscast 2018” award from the Georgia Associated Press.
Additionally, Sandlin hosted a weekly Facebook live show connecting viewers with local medical experts during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. She also hosted primetime specials about the disparities facing people of color during the pandemic. She had a one-on-one interview with then-Vice President-elect Kamala Harris before the 2020 Georgia election runoff.
Sandlin attended and graduated from the University of Missouri School of Journalism with a focus on Broadcast Journalism and received her Bachelor of Journalism degree. While in college, she worked for five months studying journalism and art history abroad while living in Brussels, Belgium. This assist build the foundation for her experience in international reporting when she worked for Thomson Reuters Television News.
Moreover, Sandlin also served as an anchor/reporter for KOMU-TV, the NBC affiliate in Columbia, Missouri. After graduation, she was named an International Radio Television Society Foundation Fellow and spent a summer working at NBC News in New York City.
She truthfully considers making the arts accessible to all and has served on the board of the Savannah Music Festival and Telfair Museums and her biggest passion is being part of her community. She has raised thousands of dollars as a Big Wig fundraiser for Susan G. Komen, providing mammograms and early detection for women in need.
