At a very young age, Baden grew a love of weather which continues today. Wisconsin’s ever-changing weather continues his weather passion. He has received numerous weather awards including a local and regional Emmy for flood coverage in 2008 and a Wisconsin Broadcaster’s Association’s best weathercast award in 2009. The WeatherWatch 12 team has also been voted the most accurate local forecast by Milwaukee Magazine.

In addition, Baden has had an opportunity to cover the weather across our area and around the country. On July 22nd floods he had a first-hand account reporting live and was there the first to report Interstate 43 closed due to four feet of water covering I-43 in Glendale and seeing a police officer rescue a pregnant mother and her child from a flooded car.

That same storm flew a mattress across Port Washington Road right in front of his location. He has covered two hurricanes for WISN. Baden watched the destruction first-hand of Hurricane Frances in 2004, from Cocoa Beach, Florida and Hurricane Rita in Beaumont, Texas in 2005. He has also witnessed the destructive tornadoes in Hartford, Utica, Ill., and Kansas City, Mo.

Most of the time, you will find Baden in the studio when harsh weather strikes, but he loves the chance to witness Mother Nature first-hand. Baden has been on numerous storm chases across the Midwest and Great Plains, but in Mark’s own words, he is the world’s worst storm chaser. He has yet to witness a tornado.

Prior to moving to Milwaukee, he served in Des Moines, Iowa, St. Louis, Missouri, Sioux City, Iowa, and Columbia, Missouri. Baden is generous and passionate and focuses on children. For 12 years has worked as an emcee for COA’s Oscar Night America.
