He graduated from Sabino High School, where he achieved the title of the 1982 high school state track champion in the 800 meters. Throughout high school and college, he held a part-time position in the KGUN 9 newsroom.
His father, Jack Parris, previously served as the station’s general manager. Parris pursued his education at the University of Arizona initially, competing in track for a year before transferring to Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Garnering All-American recognition in track, Parris graduated from Drake with a Broadcast News degree.
With over 30 years in broadcasting, he has earned four Regional Emmy Awards for his outstanding work. His career began as a sports anchor at WHO-TV in Des Moines, followed by moves to WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh in 1996, then to FOX Sports Pittsburgh five years later, and ultimately FOX Sports Midwest in St. Louis. Parris notably hosted coverage of various World Series events on FOX Sports Midwest, the St. Louis Cardinals’ championships in 2006 and 2011. In 2016, Parris eagerly returned to Tucson and KGUN 9. He is married with two adult children and enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, running, and golf.
