Gallivan, in 1987 started his career at a small radio station in Brockport. There, he did jobs such as disk jockeying (DJ), and sales and later got promoted to be a News Director at WASB. He however moved from the station to look for greener pastures which saw him work in other local radios in Rochester, Warsaw, and Canandaigua. It was at this point that he realized his passion for visual story-telling when he worked as a reporter at WHEC-TV and much later WROC-TV.
It was not until 1996, that he returned home to Buffalo and joined WGRZ-TV. He has since then worked at WGRZ as a Daybreak Anchor and weekend Anchor general assignment reporter among others. Gallivan has won awards while in Buffalo such as the regional Edward R. Murrow Award, an Associated Press Award, and 2 NYS Emmy awards. He was additionally part of the Daybreak team that won an Emmy for best morning newscast.
WGRZ-TV is a television station based in Buffalo New York owned by Tegna Inc affiliated with NBC. It was first signed on the air in the year 1954 August 14. During Gallivan’s free time, he spends time with his wife, three children, and several rescued greyhounds.
