Saenz started his broadcasting career at KWES-TV in Midland, Texas in November 1994. He worked his way from a general assignment news reporter to a weekend sports anchor. In 1997 he moved to El Paso where he anchored the weekend sports at KDBC-TV. Nevertheless, he was promoted to sports director and stayed in El Paso for over five years before moving to FOX 10 in April 2003.
