Soliz was born and raised in San Antonio, where much of his family still resides. He lived in numerous cities in Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico the moment he left his hometown. Soliz is so glad to be in the Pacific Northwest after spending the first 40 years of his life in the desert Southwest.
In the year 2005, he started his broadcasting career in journalism, and throughout the years, he has spent in both radio and television. He has been lucky enough to be a part of some award-winning newsrooms and have been able to win some awards of my own, including a Rocky Mountain EMMY for a series of stories about New Mexico called “Send Steve Where,” and a Lone Star EMMY for my work along the U.S./Mexico border.
Additionally, Soliz has also dabbled as an actor in various film and television productions, including “El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie” and “Army of the Dead.” He is blessed with three amazing boys and is married to a very patient woman. During his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, running errands, and trying to make it to the gym.

It all started on November 25, 1948, when “Channel 5” aired a high school football game, becoming the first television station in the Pacific Northwest. Eight months later, Dorothy Bullitt, a local businesswoman, bought the station and began its tradition of quality local programming. As a broadcast pioneer and visionary, Mrs. Bullitt decided to change “Channel 5” to the call letters KING.

DuPont-Columbia Award, one of journalism’s highest honors.
KING 5 was awarded the national Edward R. Murrow Award for Overall Excellence in 2015 and was again recognized in 2017 with yet another national Murrow for its continuing coverage of the Hanford nuclear facility. In 2018, KING 5 won three national Edward R. Murrow Awards for feature reporting, excellence in video, and large market TV website.
